KIMEP was founded in 1992 with the charge to provide education to change society. In 2001, KIMEP became the first academic institute in Central Asia to adopt the North-American credit system.
KIMEP is also the first to launch an online registration system and the first to receive the Platinum Tarlan Award. KIMEP now provides degree programs in business, law, public administration, economics, international relations, journalism and English pedagogy.
KIMEP has more than 3,500 students, over 200 faculty members and 500 staff from Kazakhstan and around the world.
